What to Expect in Therapy
A worthwhile, if sometimes scary first step
While it can be intimidating to talk to a stranger about the difficulties of our lives, I have seen over and over how therapists can change the journeys of their clients. From overcoming the fear of flying, to getting out of a toxic relationship, to addressing complicated family issues, therapists empower people to take control of themselves and how they react to others. I find that it is a gift to accompany you on this road.
What type of therapy does Brittany practice?
I utilize a combination of Behavioral, Jungian, Systems, and Play therapy, depending on the needs of each client. Everyone is different, so I will utilize different aspects of these therapies to get the best result for the person. I have a passion for wellness and the overall physical and mental health of each client. Sometimes we forget the mind is connected to the body, so I work with clients to read what our body is telling us we need.
What are Brittany's credentials?
I have my LCSW-C, as well as my Master's in Social Work and Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Denver. At DU, I focused on At-Risk Youth and Animal-Assisted Therapy. I graduated Phi Betta Kappa from DU and was inducted into the Phi Alpha Honor Society. I completed my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in 5 years, all while competitively horseback riding and working.
I have always loved working with youth, starting as a Peer Counselor at my alma mater, the Bryn Mawr School for Girls. Once in college, I had multiple field placements working with youth of all different backgrounds. Upon returning home to Baltimore, I worked in a nursing facility, and loved working in the health field, but found my heart truly wanted to work with youth. I bring over 10 years of social work experience and knowledge to the table. I have worked with individuals who are often in the most difficult times of their lives and faced extensive risks. I helped them to navigate those times with compassion.
